What We Do

United Way is focused on creating large-scale, systems-level social change in our community.  Breaking cycles and improving the quality of life for those in Broome County depends on engaging the entire community and on doing things differently. United Way provides funding to programs that help people overcome life’s challenges and meet their basic needs so they are prepared to take advantage of all the resources that allow them to build a better life.

Our Vision:

United Way of Broome County is enhancing quality of life in the community by revitalizing collaboration, inspiring giving, and unifying efforts and resources to drive social change through health, education, and financial stability.

OUR APPROACH STARTS WITH COMMUNITY.

Through community conversations, town meetings and research, we identify our community’s most complex challenges.

WE IDENTIFY STRATEGIC PRIORITIES.

Together with the community, we identify core issues facing Broome County in the areas of Health, Education, and Financial Stability.

OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS DRIVE CHANGE.

We leverage the resources of our corporate and individual partners to multiply the impact through giving, advocating, and volunteering.

WE INVEST IN KEY PATHWAYS.

We focus your contributions on strategic priorities, identified by county residents, which will change individual lives and benefit our entire community so everyone has the same opportunities to succeed.
