A FOUNDATION FOR A QUALITY LIFE: BASIC NEEDS

WHY IT MATTERS

United Way works to help families in Broome County meet their basic needs for food, shelter, and safety as a foundation for a quality life. When needs are unmet and uncertain – if we are hungry, if we don’t have a place to sleep, if we are in fear for our safety – the other challenges we encounter in life become even more difficult to overcome. We cannot focus on getting a better job, going to school, or taking care of our health. United Way of Broome County provides funding to programs that help people overcome life’s challenges and meet their basic needs so they are prepared to take advantage of the resources that allow them to build a better life.
